When people ask me why I became a filmmaker, I have a simple answer: “I’m a storyteller with a deep passion for people!” My superpower lies in my unique ability to discover the fascinating stories hidden within everyone I meet. People can be remarkable, and I enjoy shining light on their journeys!
As a teenager growing up in Hollywood, I was captivated by the magic of film and dreamed of creative experiences for myself. Surrounded by the vibrant allure of the industry, I aspired to build my future in filmmaking.
After studying film and video in Los Angeles, I embarked on an journey to San Francisco to pursue my dreams and more training at film school. The moment I arrived, San Francisco sparked my artistic spirit. I immersed myself in the exciting fields of film and video, explored the cutting edge of digital arts, and delved into the world of glass sculpture and kiln-formed glass. Along the way, I discovered my love of painting, mixed-media sculpting, and the creative outlet of writing plays and poetry. It was a thrilling adventure that transformed my artistic passions into my multifaceted artistic style.
San Francisco boasts a fantastic program that picks 200 artists from the Bay Area to showcase and sell their works on the streets of downtown! I was one of the lucky artists selected, and it changed my life forever. For the next fifteen years, I poured my heart and soul into my art and transformed my passion into a thriving business. The thrill of independent self employment and being directly connected with enthusiastic art lovers filled me with a sense of freedom and creativity. It was in the early days of selling in front of the stock exchange that I met a cute and facinating musician that became my future husband, further weaving the tapestry of love and art.
At the beginning of the tech explosion began to take off, I returned to Graduate school to explore the exciting world of interdisciplinary art and film. It was an electrifying time, and I felt like I was at the forefront of a revolution where computers were offering unlimited possibilities to the landscape of art and music.
Today, I am still a busy painter, glass artist, writer and filmmaker. I’m a crazed mom to four amazing adopted teens, and my husband, Emkay and I, are still and artist/musician couple having a blast after all these years of marriage!
